FOMAHI NEWS - April 2025
Music Program Expansion

We are excited to announce that next year, we'll be welcoming a new music teacher to lead the Intro and Premier bands. This addition will allow for smaller class sizes in both Band and Orchestra, and the popular Chamber Orchestra will be back! Auditions for Chamber are coming up soon.

Winter Concerts

Congratulations to our talented students on their outstanding performances at the Orchestra, Band, and Choir concerts, as well as Jazz Night! A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated music directors for inspiring excellence, and deep appreciation to our parents and guardians for their enthusiastic support and volunteer efforts. Your encouragement means the world to our musicians.

Out-of-School/Town Music Festivals

Vocal Jazz Festival at Edmonds, and Band, and Orchestra EBMA festivals at Whitman MS were quite successful. The following upcoming festivals are ahead of us:

Please consider chaperoning a trip! If we don't meet the district’s required student/chaperone ratio (15:1), we'd need to cancel the performance.

  • NW Choral Showcase (Ballard HS)- April 8- Intermediate and Concert Choirs
  • Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival (Moscow, Idaho) - April 15 to 17 - Vocal Jazz, Jazz Band
  • Oaks Park Music Festival (Portland, Oregon) - May 10 - Premier Band, Premier Orchestra, Concert Choir, Vocal Jazz, Jr. Jazz
  • Elliot Bay Music Educators Association (Whitman MS) - May 13, Choir Festival
  • Bellevue Jazz Festival (Bellevue, WA)May 2 - Jazz Band

  • Silverwood Music Festival (Silverwood, Idaho) - May 30 to June 1 - Concert Band, Jazz Band, Concert Orchestra

These are amazing opportunities for our students to share their hard work, receive feedback from clinicians, and bond with their classmates over music.

Beats & Burritos!

Our Chipotle fundraiser is coming this May.

Stay tuned for more details.
