Extracurricular Junior Jazz Program
Offered through a partnership among Friends of Music at Hamilton International (FOMAHI)
and Hamilton International Middle School (HIMS)
Junior Jazz is an extracurricular program that develops concepts in jazz styling
and improvisation. In most cases, Junior Jazz students are required to have at least one year
of experience on their instruments obtained in class or through private instruction. An
audition may be required for piano, guitar, and drum players. For questions about student
readiness or audition information, please contact Mr. Geoff Ogle, HIMS music director. The
program is open to all grades.
Session Dates and Performances: There are three sessions per year. Each session ends in an evening performance at a HIMS jazz concert. All performances are held in the Commons.
Session 1: September – December (Concert Night is: December 15th)
Session 2: January – March (Jazz Night is: TBD)
Session 3: March – June (Jazz Night is: TBD)
Time: MONDAYS & THURSDAYS from 8:00 am - 8:45 am
Location: All sessions are held at HIMS Orchestra Room (Room 112)
Session Fees:
The cost is $125 per session, payable via the fall session submission form. Financial assistance is available. Please contact Mr. Ogle (HIMS music director) or fomahihelp@gmail.com.
