2025 After-School Junior Jazz Program

Offered through a partnership among Friends of Music at Hamilton International (FOMAHI),
YMCA Hawks Out of School Time (Host) Program and Hamilton International Middle School (HIMS)

Junior Jazz is an extracurricular, after-school program that develops concepts in jazz styling and improvisation. In most cases, Junior Jazz students are required to have at least one year of experience on their instruments, obtained in class or through private instruction. An audition may be required for piano, guitar, and drum players. For questions about student readiness or audition information, please contact Mr. Geoffrey Ogle, HIMS music director. The program is open to all grades.

Session Dates and Performances: There are three sessions per year. Each session ends in an evening performance at a HIMS jazz concert. All performances are held in the Commons.

Session 1:  September 26th to December 12th (Jazz Night is: December 12th )

Session 2: January 6th to March 18th (Jazz Night is: March 18th )

Session 3: March 24th to June 5th (Jazz Night is: June 5th )

Time: Mondays & Thursdays after school 3:55 to 4:50 p.m.

Location: All sessions are held at HIMS Orchestra Room (Room 112) 

Session Fees:

The cost is $125 per session.  Financial assistance is available. Please contact Mr. Ogle (HIMS music director) or fomahihelp@gmail.com.

Registration:

Print, sign and turn in Family Agreement Form for those enrolling in an after-school music program for the first time this year. Please turn in the form to your student's music teacher as soon as possible, but no later than the first day of Junior Jazz class.

Register at FOMAHI website. Update your account or create one if you don't have one. Go to "After-School Programs" or your "My Account" page.

Registration, payment, and the Family Agreement must be received before the student can participate.
