What is the Music-a- thon? The Music-a- thon is an 11+ hour music marathon with non-stop music performed by our HIMS music students and ending with a Young Musician’s Concert in the evening. The Music-a- thon is FOMAHI’s (Friends of Music at Hamilton International) biggest fundraiser of the year.
Our goal is to raise at least $40,000 to support this year’s music students at Hamilton.
When is the Music-a- thon? Thursday, February 7, 2019
What is the money used for? Donations for the Music-a- thon support the award-winning music programs at HIMS, funding the needs of our music students in the current (2018-19) school year. The money is used for instrument & sheet music purchases; financial assistance to students for festival trips and lessons; financial support for festival fees, teacher grants & workshops. Since its inception, FOMAHI has purchased more than 97 instruments valued at more than $50,000 in use by our students today!
How can we support the Music-a- thon? We are asking our music community – students, parents, guardians, grandparents, friends, and neighbors -- for donations in support of this 11+ Hour Marathon of Music provided by HIMS student musicians to support their continuing music education at Hamilton.
Students are not required to get donations, but we hope most will!
Are donations tax deductible? Yes! FOMAHI is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Since no goods or services will be exchanged, the full amount of the donation is tax-deductible. Tax acknowledgment letters will be provided for all cash, check donations and online donations totaling $100 or more. To receive a tax acknowledgment letter, donors must provide a complete mailing address and/or email address.
Are there incentives for students to participate? Yes! Students who turn in their Music-a- thon Donation & Participation Form with their parent’s or guardian’s signature by 4:00 pm, Thursday, February 7 are eligible for a special FOMAHI prize drawing held in conjunction with the FOMAHI Talent Show.

- $10 Gift Card to QFC (4)
Donations are not required to be eligible for the prize drawing – just the signed form. The class to first reach 100% participation (receives the highest percentage of participating students) will win a class pizza or donut party.

8:45 am – 3:40 pm Music Classrooms - Regular music classes play during classroom periods
3:40 pm – 4:55 pm Junior Jazz rehearsal
5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Music room Combos and small groups perform
7:00 pm -- ~ 8:00 pm Young Musician’s Concert and FOMAHI Prize Drawing in Hamilton Commons.
We lost our Music-a-thon Form. What should I do?
Your student’s music director will have extra Music-a-thon pledge forms, pick one up from him/her or email Naria at firstname.lastname@example.org.
